Tuckpointing

Damaged Chimney

Brick and masonry provide the most secure and long lasting exterior for homes and buildings. These exteriors will typically far outlast other exterior covering options. To ensure this durability periodic maintenance is required.

Brick and masonry surfaces that have been in service for long periods may require tuckpointing. Tuckpointing is the process where loose and damaged morter is removed from between bricks and then replaced with new morter. This is a time consuming process that demands care to ensure that the new work matches the existing work.

The image to the left shows a typical chimney that is in need of tuckpointing. The morter which normally binds the bricks together has been displaced due to water and ice damage. The damage shown here requires immediate attention to prevent a brick from falling causing injury or property damage.

Our experienced field service teams will fully inspect your brick and masonry to identify areas that need repair. They remove all defective morter and bricks and carefully replace them in a manner that matches your existing brickwork.
